"So did y' hear the story of the Johnstone twins? As like as each other as two new pins, of one womb born, on the self same day, how one was kept and one given away?"

In 1960's Liverpool twin boys are born to a loving mother who has the heart but not the wealth to care for two babies. Offered a way out by her wealthy, childless boss, Mrs Johnstone agrees to give up one of her boys in exchange for money and a better life for at least one of her sons. She vows to never tell anyone of their agreement.

Inevitably the two boys - Mickey and Eddie meet again in later life, their relationship as friends blossoms much to the despair of their mothers. If the boys remain friends and if they ever find out their true identities is for the show to divulge!
