Cabaret bids Auf Wiedersehen to the West End

Cabaret

It was announced today that the current run of Cabaret at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftsbury Avenue is due to close on the 21st June 2008

The landmark Kander and Ebb musical had enjoyed a successful revival at the Lyric since 2006 and boasted a cast of a fairly serious calibre. In the last two years Cabaret has been host to appearances by Sheila Hancock (who won an Olivier Award for best supporting actress), Alistair McGowan and Julian Clary.

Based around the decadent exploits of the Kit Kat Klub in Weimar Berlin, this outstanding musical explores the bohemian appetite of Germany in the early 30s as the true horror of Hitler's Third Reich starts to take shape.

With some absolutely classic numbers and unforgettable characters, Cabaret is one of the most celebrated and respected musicals of the last 30 years. A real regular at awards ceremonies, the decision to pull the show from its current West End slot comes as a surprise to many.

With tickets still available at Show and Stay® for the next week, now might be the last time you can get to see this fantastic musical in its current West End production.
