People's Favourite Connie Fisher to Star in They're Playing Our Song

Connie and Webber

Connie Fisher's meteoric rise to fame came about when she won the BBC's first West End talent show How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria. She is now to feature in a revival of the successful musical They're Playing our Song

Since first starring in the hit revival of The Sound of Music, Connie has earned herself a cabinet full of theatre awards including lastminute.com's People's Choice Award for Best Actress in 2007. From the 4th August 2008 she is scheduled to appear in the Hamlisch/Bayer Sager musical They're Playing Our Song with TV actor and impressionist Alistair McGowan.

Focussing on the real life relationship between composer Marvin Hamlisch and lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, this semi-autobiographical story focusses on the relationship between Vernon Gersch and Sonia Walsk. Gersch, a successful but neurotic composer and Walsk, his eccentric lyricist, may seem like an odd pairing at the beginning but, as they journey through the narrative, they find that their feelings for each other blossom into a heartfelt romance.

Playing at the Mernier Chocolate Factory until 28th September, this musical is sure to be a triumphant return to the West End for the ex Sound of Music star.
