Gone with the West End

Gone with the Wind show poster

Troubled production Gone with the Wind is set to close in the West End on June 14th.

It seems that Trevor Nunn's latest production Gone with the Wind has not been as successful as the West End cast and creative team would have hoped. Peppered with criticism from the outset, the adaptation of Margaret Mitchell's classic novel will close at the New London Theatre later this month.

Aldo Scrofani, producer of the London show commented on the early closure "From the beginning of our journey we have all worked hard to achieve the realisation of putting Margaret Mitchell’s classic novel, Gone with the Wind, on stage at the New London Theatre.  Despite the critical response, the company have enjoyed much praise from audience members during our run and for that we are grateful, nevertheless, we have made the difficult decision to close the production. Plans for a New York production are currently on hold, but in the meantime, we are pursuing various options that have been presented to us from interested parties worldwide.”

Despite its early closure Gone with the Wind has been positively received by London theatregoers, with our very own writer praising Darius Danesh as the iconic Rhett Butler, "elegant and debonair and every inch the Southern gent". Here's hoping the last two weeks of its run end on a high note.

Please note: If you have booked to see Gone with the Wind for a performance after 14th June, the Show and Stay® team will be in contact to arrange a refund.
