Jodie is People's Nancy

Jodie Prenger

BBC 1's flagship talent hunt I'd Do Anything drew to a close this weekend when 28 year old Jodie Prenger from Blackpool was given the role of Nancy in the upcoming production of Oliver.

Beating both County Kerry's Jessie Buckley and Samantha Barks from the Isle of Man in the final, Jodie will star in the production at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane when it opens next year.

Jodie had been an Agony Aunt in Blackpool since she won Living TV's reality weight loss programme The Biggest Loser. Singing part time in clubs and bars, Jodie had said that she was thinking of giving it all up if she didn't do well in the competition.

Almost from the off Jodie endeared herself to the public with her bubbly personality and her loveable relationship with her Yorkshire Terrier. Then, when her boyfriend proposed to her in the preliminary stages of the competition, the nation responded by sending in messages of congratulations and well wishing.

Developing as an artist every week, Jodie quickly became one of the front-runners in the competition. A big voice, and an even bigger personality, Jodie was a favourite with judges, audience members and the Olivers alike. She will take the role in Cameron Mackintosh's production from the previews in December.

She will star alongside Rowan Atkinson as Fagin and Gwion, Laurence and Harry when each take on the role of Oliver.
