A new series of the The South Bank Show will feature an edition with the stars from the stage and forthcoming screen version of Mamma Mia!.

Due for release in July, the film of Mamma Mia stars Julie Walters, Colin Firth and Meryl Streep who are among those lined up to appear in the South Bank Show. The film also stars Pierce Brosnan and was the first film to be shot on the new 007 Stage at Pinewood Studios for those song and dance numbers that were nut filmed on location in Greece. Discussing his role Brosnan has said "what a kick in the pants, to be able to off and spend time with Meryl on some Greek island singing Abba songs."

The South Bank Show will feature interviews with Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson from ABBA along with behind the scenes footage of the opening of a new stage production of Mamma Mia! in Europe.

Mamma Mia! has been staged in 140 cities worldwide. Set on a Greek island, the show tells the story of Sophie who wants to find the identity of her father before her wedding day. With the big day getting closer, 3 men arrive on the island and with them the question: could one of these men be her father?
