2008 Laurence Olivier Award Winners
Last night saw the winners of the most prestigious awards in theatre announced - The Laurence Olivier Awards. Held at the Grovesnor House Hotel on Park Lane, the 2008 Olivier Awards saw a huge level of success for the West End revival of Hairspray which scooped an amazing 4 awards including Best New Musical, Best Actor and Actress in a Musical and Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical.
Andrew Lloyd Webber was awarded the Special Award in recognition of his work. Lloyd Webber has composed some of the longest running musicals in West End history including The Phantom Of The Opera which has run for 22 years, Cats which ran for 21 years and Starlight Express and Evita which ran for 17 and 10 years respectively.
