Sound of Music London Show

Popular London show The Sound of Music starring Summer Strallen has announced a further extension to its West End run at the London Palladium.

Lord Lloyd Webber's adaptation of the cult 1960's film The Sound of Music is now taking bookings up until February 2009. Currently starring Hollyoaks actress Summer Strallen, the hit production follows the fortunes of governess Maria and the Von Trapp family.

A hit with London audiences from the outset, The Sound of Music was the first West End show to pilot the now famous reality talent search format to cast its leading lady. Connie Fisher won the role of Maria when the public voted her favourite in BBC1's How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? in September 2006. Although no longer in the role, Connie proved popular with theatregoers and remained as the lovable nun until earlier this year. Since her departure the West End production has attracted a different audience after Lord Webber planted actress Summer Strallen in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks. Strallen's character in the show pursued Webber for the role of Maria which she inevitably won, with her departure from the programme cleverly tied in with her arrival in the West End show.
